At first I thought Michael Vick was back into dogfighting. I tuned in late this morning, thinking the broadcast started at 7pm. Long night didn't sleep well, so it figures I would make that mistake. So it turns out Vick was going court-ordered work and got an award for doing it? There are so many filters to view that through, and I don't like the racist implication that comes to my mind.
What I did hear of the program has me hoping that Pryor's Planet will have a lot of success in their project. Around the world people have poorly treated animals, ranging from killing them in painful manner, to allowing them become carriers of disease, to being a menu item at very discreetly tucked away restaurants where the soup that barks is served fresh every day. In South Korea, there are some restaurants that serve dog meat, and from what missionaries have told me who have lived close to places like that, it is quite... unsettling, hearing the cut off yelp of a dog being killed for food. So much work to do in rescuing the animals. There will be cultural issues coming up in this job. I wish them much success in their endeavors.
Master Steve! Altho I'm in full agreement with everything you and your guests have said about M.Vick...the one hope he has for redemption he may really have,is just how much influence that Tony Dungy has on him.- - no way should Vick recieve a 'courage'award,or any award at this time, but someday..maybe.. he might 'man up' to being a better person. - please.. more Joy Turberville! She'd make an excellent co-host,and is one of the few true heros in our world today. Keep fighting the good fight!
